About Super Sidekick: The Musical

Action! Adventure! Romance! Ninja Koalas! There’s all this and more in Super Sidekick, the brand new TYA musical from rising L.A. playwright Gregory Crafts and composer Michael Gordon Shapiro, published by Concord Theatricals. When famous superhero Blackjack the Bold is kidnapped by an evil sorcerer, it’s up to his assistant Inky to step up and save the day! Little does he know that he’ll also have to contend with Ninja Koalas, dark caves, secret weapons, and an abducted princess who’s considerably braver than he is. Colorful characters, witty humor, and an upbeat catchy score make Super Sidekick: The Musical a treat for young audiences, and an engaging children’s theatre project for thespians of all ages.

About ArtEffects Theatre Company

ArtEffects Theatre Company was founded in 2009 by Kristi McCarson, Zach McCoy, and Phil Newsom. They have previously produced Almost Olive Juice and Tonight is Kind of Special to showcase one-acts of up-and-coming playwrights. Their production last fall of The Birthday Boys marked the acclaimed New York debut of playwright Aaron Kozak. When not producing shows, ArtEffects hosts free monthly play readings and workshops.

About Theatre Unleashed

Theatre Unleashed is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Public Benefit Corporation whose mission is to embody original stories, shed light upon lesser-known works by known playwrights, and put new twists on old favorites; all for discerning Los Angeles audiences.

About the New York International Fringe Festival

The New York International Fringe Festival, or FringeNYC, was a fringe theater festival and one of the largest multi-arts events in North America. It took place over the course of a few weeks in October, spread on more than 20 stages across several neighborhoods in downtown Manhattan, notably the Lower East Side, the East Village, and Greenwich Village. Most of the venues were centered on the FringeHUB. Yearly attendance topped 75,000 people. FringeNYC paused production after the 2019 Festival.

About Fringe Jr.

The purpose of the Fringe Jr. program is to help families find age appropriate programming for their children, introduce young people to the joys of live performance, and encourage new works for all ages.
